Scrapping Cents

Ok, I have the best idea for you, this week. This was sent in by Scrapper Mom. You know the cover sheets that come with paper collection packs? You know...the ones that Basic Grey (and others) include to show the various patterns in the package. Scrapper Mom has a tutorial showing how to use these to make the foundation of a mini album. You can see the step by step tutorial here. I thought this was an awesome way to use something that otherwise would have been thrown away, and get more bang for your buck! Other ideas: cut them up, use them as journaling boxes. Adhere them to your pages as accent spots. You can even use these in your card making. I love this... Thanks, Scrapper Mom!

Scrapping Cents Sightings:

Walmart across the nation continue to clearance out older merchandise preparing for Martha Stewart's arrival. Cauttlekids dies have been spotted at drastic markdowns.

Target has the new MM Hulabaloo line in the store.

BL has some new shaped plastic plates in the summer aisle...modged, I think these could make awesome frames and such.

Dollar Tree has 9x9 spiral Heidi Swapp albums in stock.

Scrapping Cents

My favorite tip this week was sent in by Chelsea Van Tol. She had a wonderful way to stretch your alphabets....use the backing paper. Basically, you add glue to the backer paper that your sticker alphabets- or self stick chipboard- comes on, then glitter over that---instant glitter alpha. Gotta love it! This would also work with flocking, too. Chelsea has detailed instructions on her blog. Thanks, Chelsea, for sending in that great tip!! Come on, everybody...send in those tips!! Together, we can beat the economy, lol!

Scrapping Cents Sightings:

Walmart: Various Supercenters around the nation are clearancing out, prepping for Martha Stewart goods.

Dollar Tree: New chipboard Embellishments sighted.

Scrapping Cents

This week, let's peek into the world of 'digi'. No, I am not a digi-scrapper- but there are tricks and values to be had for paper scrappers, too! First, print out large fonts to hand cut,you save on stickers. You can even cut through thin chipboard like cereal boxes. Fonts for free...gotta love that! Next, check out digi scrapping kits for anything you can print: flourishes on transparencies, word art, etc. Printing out your own journal tags lets you choose the paper- how custom is that! Printed on vellum, they look like the sheers that are so trendy! Here is a free download from A Million Memories and Karen Grunberg of Creative Therapy to get you started. (Many, many thanks, as these are simply wonderful!!) Finally, check out coloring page sites such as Coloring Pages.net. they have images for most occasions- and printed at 20-25% size, they make perfect 'stamps' ready to color and add to your cards.

Scrapping Cents Sightings: (These are some I've seen reported on through out the internet, you may or may not find them in your neck of the woods...good luck!!)

Scrapping Cents

I have a new feature for you, and I am betting that you won't be able to resist. Scrapping Cents will cull the internet, and my bag of tricks, for tips and tricks to save you money while you scrap. Using your supplies in new ways, repurposing supplies...even new ways to look at thinks can save you a few bucks. And, who wouldn't love a couple more dollars to spend at the LSS?!

This week, we are looking at the joys of paint chips. Yes, those free little samples you can get at any hardware store. Think of using these as accents on your pages, or as journaling spots. A few lined up would make a great border. But my favorite? Use them in your die cut machine. These would make great little embellishments...or a rocking title with your favorite alphabet dies. Stamp on them, and they can be added to your cards. Stamp and cut out, and they would make great piecings. Or group petals of them to create your own flowers. The possibilities are endless! So, the next time you are at the hardware store, definitely check out the paint department.

If you have ideas you would like to share, tips and tricks that save you money- send 'em in! Who knows- yours might just be featured on Scrapping Cents.

Zoo Fun!

The Design Team at Scrapbook Express is Featuring products from Scenic Route and Karen Foster Designs....oh, what fun to work with!!! Scenic Route is one of my all time favorite companies!! I made these badges for my kids before our field trip to the zzoo. Each child got one to wear, and they 'hunted' for that animal in the zoo. When we 'found' them, we read all the fun trivia on the back. The kids loved it!!
