March Call for Layouts- {SN+R}

You all sent me some beautiful layouts for our first Scrapbook News + Review Faithbooking call!! I have some wonderfully hard choices to make, and want to thank each of you! I will be making that decision, and notifying people asap. Meantime, I wanted to get you started on the March call, to give you as much time as possible.

March's column deals with Faithbooking for your family. This would include adding your faith to layouts about your family, using your scrapbooks to teach your faith to your family, encouraging your family in their faith development with your scrapbooks, etc. I need to see your families, and the faith based pages you have done for them. I didn't mention before, but these can be traditional, hybrid, or digital pages.

This week, the challenge at FaithSisters is Gladness for Many Things. I decided to make this photo screen for my project...I confess, I am enjoying the change of pace of altered projects. Anyway, each letter is surrounded by words starting with that letter that describe God or us. For example:

G: God, goodness, gentleness, grace, great
L: love, Lord, Logos, light
A: adore, Adoni, amazing, Alpha
D: devoted, disciple, devotion, Door, Doer

A Wow Moment

I wrote this email in Feb 2006, after a difficult time of testing in my faith...this moment was my 'reward', my answer...I just scrapped it, and thought I would share with you all, as well:

I had a 'wow moment', and I wanted to share....I had a 'wow moment', and I NEEDED to get it down, needed a way to remember. So may times in our lives God graciously provides us with 'wow moments'- and we sit amazed...for a moment. Then we get back to our lives, and leave behind the wow. So I am sharing the wow- and hoping that for me, at least, this moment that greatly impacted me- might continue reverberating.

In church the last couple of weeks, we have been talking about the greatness of God. Fredrick Schuller (sp?) has said that "the universe is just one of God's ideas". Too illustrate this, we have learned many interesting facts: The sun is 93 million miles from the earth- and it takes all of 8 minutes for the power of the sun to be felt on our face.... if we wanted to count all of the stars in the Milky Way, and only the Milky Way Galaxy, and we counted 1 star per second- it would take us over 2000 YEARS to count them all.... that light travels 186,000 miles per second- and we live in a universe that requires us to measure distance in light YEARS!

Yesterday, we saw a picture of the Whirlpool Nebula. Astronomers classify this as M51, and it is considered a Grand Design Spiral Galaxy. Now, if that name grabs your attention as fellow Christians- hang on...it gets better.

Resolutions

The challenge on FaithSisters last week was: Resolved. I decided to mine on blocks, and each word is one of my Spirit led resolutions. Fun, huh?! Join us this week for our Gladness for many things challenge!!

First Scripture Challenge Card

This was the first week of the Scripture Challenge- yeah!! After waiting so long, it is great to finally get to it! The word for this week is: faith. I chose the verse: "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all," Is7:9b God is talking through Isaiah to a king who had inquired of Him. tThe question was should I attack the enemy, and God said yes- but, if you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all. Roughly translated: If you do not believe you have won the victory- you HAVE NOT won the victory! I LOVE it!!

I used a jumbo playing card, and my DCWV Nana's Kids stack and chpboard. Threw in a couple of buttons, too. Fun!

Announcement and a Call...

OK- I can finally share my amazingly exciting news....

Have you heard about the newest magazine to hit the Scrapping world- Scrapbook News and Review? How could you not have- the buzz and excitement is palpable! This magazine is taking the scrapping community by storm! I cannot tell you all of the incredible ideas, features and plans that are upcoming- but I can tell you this- hang on!! Oh, hang on, because it is going to be great!!!

I am so thrilled and honored to say that I have been given a column in this innovative magazine. Called A Faith Perspective, this will be an ongoing look at incorporating your faith into your everyday scrapping. We will talk about the importance of scrapbooking your faith and beliefs, as well as explore tips, topics, and techniques in the world of Faithbooking. God has laid so many ideas on my heart, I cannot wait to start this journey we are going to take, together!!

Now, for the call: I need to see layouts based on your commitment to include your faith in your scrapbooks. Show me why you faithbook, or want to faithbook. This might include who you want to pass your faith onto, a statement to God committing yourself to this new perspective, a statement of your own beliefs...show me your ideas! I am looking for layouts at least 8x8 or larger.

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls,
but do not show love, I’m just another decorator.

If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime,
but do not show love, I’m just another cook.

If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home and give all that I have to charity,
but do not show love, it profits me nothing.

If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir’s cantata

Love stops the cooking to hug the child.
Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the husband.
Love is kind, though harried and tired.

Love doesn’t envy another’s home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.

Love doesn’t yell at the kids to get out of the way, but is thankful they are there to be in the way.

Love doesn’t give only to those who are able to give in return but rejoices in giving to those who can’t.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails.

Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust, but giving the gift of love will endure.

Home Sweet Home

This was hours of cross-stitching on paper, but I loved the home-spun flavor.

Journaling:
It is not easy to find a landlord that will allow a daycare in the house you are renting. When we received a letter from our landlord giving us 30 days to move, because of the business she lied about approving, we knew we were up against a wall. God came to the rescue!! Within hours, God brought us a landlord from the church Carrie worked at. She was a Christian who understood our situation, and was happy to have a daycare on her property. So we moved.


I hated that house, though- HATED IT! Even as I thanked God for His awesome provision, even as I acknowledged His will. God knows our every thought, so I have never seen the point in pretending before Him. I hated that house! I begged God to be allowed to move, from the day we moved in, really. It was 800 sq feet- and 400 were dedicated to the business. There was no central heat or air. It was not in a great neighborhood. It was old, and had the problems age brings. I remember being brought to my knees crying to God about my hatred and despair of this house, only to clearly hear his voice. We were to wait. Waiting upon the Lord has never been my strength...but we waited. And waited. And waited.


Finally, the time arrived. Out of the blue, our landlord- that God had so graciously provided- came to us and said she wanted to buy a house with us. She had a plan that would help us. Would we consider it? Um, yeah! We ended up in the house we are at now. I love this house! It's not a palace- but at 1600 sq feet it is double the size of the old house. It has central heat and air. It has 2 floors, one for the business, one for us. It also has its problems. But, we have our God, and He has taken care of everyone of them.


Sometimes hearing the voice of God does not bring you a message you want to hear. I am so glad we obeyed! God has definitely blessed us beyond measure!

Straight No Chaser - 12 Days

I have POWER!!

And, I don't just mean in the blood of Christ, either!! After power went out last Sunday morning, (ice storm in SW MO), we were without power for 6 days. Cold, very cold. But, God has been awesome to watch throughout this whole this- and I truly praise Him for all He has done and provided. If nothing else, the whole thing was worth it for the chance to praise God before others in this situation!

Anyway, picking up Mom at the airport tomorrow- 3 1/2 hour drive, snow predicted....no blogging then, lol! Just wanted to let everyone know where I have been- I did not desert you, lol!!
