Robot Spinner

This is a very simple version of a spinner card, but it's the first I'd ever made. This was for a tutorial in the Feb issue of Scrapbook News and Review. We have a fun series called Fabulous Folds that gives you 3 fun card folds, step by step, every month. What a great way to spice up your card making, huh?

I know, most people think of this as a Christmas passage, and here we are- almost Easter. But, here's an interesting bit of trivia for you: Did you know that when a king rode into town in biblical times, the animal he rode upon had significance? If he was riding a horse, he came to conquer. If he came on a donkey, he came in peace. Now, what did Jesus ride on Palm Sunday?

Now, let me ask you this- what do you picture when I say the word peace? Is it a person? Place? Has you life been so filled with battle, that you can't even picture it? Take some time, this week, and try. Picture "peace" in your head. For me, it would be a tropical beach. This is the setting where I have known the greatest peace. Now, add that picture to a project. Jesus is the Prince of Peace- so take that image of peace, and give it over to Him.

Stamping Bella

Here's another one of my early ATC's...I say early because as fun as this is- it only sorta looks like what my ATC style is evolving into. This one was for a spotlight we did on Stamping Bella Stamps...dang, I love this stamp! I love the sassy, musical quiality...fun, isn't she?

BTW, looking for a use for those smootches you bought, cause the container was just too cute? I gave bella a cute little pearl necklace with mine.

Scripture of the Week

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Col 3:17

We all have things in our lives we'd really rather not do. What's yours? Come on, be honest. What is it that you know you should do, that you just dread? Does your attitude reflect it? Here's a simple way to know the answer to that question- do the other people in your life know that you hate it? If they can see from your attitude that you despise that activity, you're not doing it in the name of Jesus.

Here's your challenge this week. It's 2 part and I'm going to make it short, sweet, but not so easy. Name the one thing you dread most, and do it for Jesus, in the name of Jesus. Do a project that names your dread, give it over to Jesus, and pledge yourself to this verse.

Simple verse. Hard lifetime of learning to apply it, huh? Good luck.

Cherry Blossoms and Butterflies

I thought I'd show you a card from the Jan issue of SNR. This was from a mfg spotlight- Catslife PRess. I love their stamps!! These are rubber, and stamp like a dream. And, Susan is a dear to work with- totally love them!

Anyway- I thought you might enjoy the taste of Spring. This has Flowersoft added on the tree for a Cherry Blossom effect. It cheered me up!

Easter is coming, and with it, rememberences of Christ's sacrifice for us. Sacrifice- now there's a word we just don't hear very often, anymore. We don't sacrifice, we buy, grow, add things to our collections. We rarely do without much, do we?

This week, your challenge is to think of something you have sacrificed in the past, or are willing to sacrifice now. Not forever, but how about a season? It's Lent, it's the perfect time for a sacrificial rememberance. Consider scrapping a page, adding a page to your art journal, or writing out a prayer that dedicates this sacrifice to God and His glory.

You might be suprised at how much giving up something can add to you.

U Make Me Smile

I love the owl on this one! This was for the Glitz event on SNR- and I have to say- I love their products. I don't normally like stickers and rubons- but theirs are just so fun and trendy.

Here I am!

Alright, when you've neglected the blog so long that your mother calls demanding a "proof of life" conversation it might be time to upload something, lol. Here's a card that I did for Alluring Impressions. The stamps I had were the instraments, and I thought they complimented the hymnal page wonderfully. Here's a fun idea for paper- check out you local used book store, Goodwill, or library used book sale table for fun old volumes. It may go against your nature to tear up a book- but they make great accents on your pages!!

Friday Finds

With CHA coming up, people are looking for sneaks and previews all over. But, would you love to find all of the major company sneak peaks in one easy to use location? We thought that would be cool, too- so we compiled them for you.

Come on over and take a look- and while you're there, be sure to take a look around. There are many boards on the internet- and some are really great resources. But, let's be honest- some are mean and scary places. You never know what not to say, or what's going to cause the next drama. Our forums are a whole different world then that. GCD: Bird on a Wire

This little guy may just be hanging out, but doesn't he look all sophisticated in his black and white? This is another simple card, but, again, sometimes less is more. The bird on here is embossed in white to make him pop, and the layers of black and white make a striking combination.

GCD Studios: Butterflies

This is a simple card, but when you have all that glitz and glam from the paper, who needs more? You might not be able to see it well, but this paper is covered in glitter! Each of these butterflies sparkles like a gem. This card is proof that a lovely card can be whipped up quickly, and still be a joy!

It can be a maddening, fun, exciting time. for a child, the anticipation of Christmas is opening the gifts. For an adult, the anicipation comes in watching the gifts as they are received.

Have you opened your Christmas gift, this year? God gave to us the most precious gift of all in the form of Jesus. Through Him, we have the gift of eternal life, and life abundantly in Him. Have you received and accepted that joy? God is waiting to watch your reaction as you open your gift, this holiday season!

Deep Thoughts

Carrie and I got laughing one dayt about deep thoughts for preschoolers...you know, if we were going to teach philosophy for preschoolers what would it look like? The deep questions prescholers might ponder: Why is a circle round? If a toddler fills his diaper in the woods...will Carrie still change it? Silly things, tht lead to a silly layout.

Christmas Loot

I loved having the chance to play wioth Basic Grey's new Christmas Line; Eskimo Kisses. As usual, BG is one of my all time favorites. This year, they used more non traditional colors for their holiday line- pinks and baby blues even made an appearence. But, all of the BG charm and style is definitely there.

Paper Trained

Here's a layout I made for the Basic Grey event at Scrapbook News and Review Magazine. I got to play with the new Eskimo Kisses line- and you know I LOVED that! These little deer were cut out of a sheet of paper, and pop dotted for depth. They really are a great accent to the page. Then, you can't really tell, but there are stckle accents all over the place on this- giving a nice glittery look for the season.

Since the theme for the weekend nis friends, I've deciced to share a layout I did for one of my BFF's. Holly and I were roommates in college, and friends for years afterward. One of my fondest memories of her, and college, was reading the Lord of the Rings trilogogy outloud to each other. We didn't have television in our dorm room, and this was grand entertainment!

This card was from the Outlines Stamp event in September. I loved the fun of stamping on Cloth. To do this:
1. Iron interfacing onto the back of your cloth. Use a very slow iron for this step, slower is better.
2. Stamp in Solvant ink.
3. Cut out.

It really is that simple! And, the interfacing is so cheap, too- like a $1 a yard. Ha! I got a new weapon in my arsonal!
